2024 QUILT ALONG

Join us for  our second annual Quilt Along!

If you joined us for our 2023 Quilt along, you know how much fun a ruler quilting QAL can be!

We will change things up a bit with this one and will be running it from January 1st - June 30 2024! At the end of this quilt along, you will have two double sided table runners or 4 single sided table runners! 

We will have our own Facebook group (not mandatory to join) so we can chat about the project, share results and see each other's projects.

We will meet every 6 weeks via Zoom for about an hour to go over the project and just have a little social time together. 

 We will use Hexie Duet, Beanie 6/2. Spacey is highly recommended, but not totally necessary and always a great straight ruler like Edgie 6 or Edgie 10 will also be helpful to create some awesome designs that you can apply to your stack of unfinished quilts! (DUDE is also a helpful tool for this quilt along, but not necessary!)

The  Quilt Along is being done in a Quilt As You Go format.  What this means is that you will complete 12 blocks total (two per month) and when the QAL is over, we will have a Zoom class on assembling the blocks and a wind up party!

 In this Quilt Along we be building skills as we go. If you like doing a design, why not practice it on a few other blocks so you really get the hang of it. Play with different pathways, combine different techniques and just enjoy the process! 

Each block will be recorded and you will be notified when the video is ready! The video is yours to keep, but we do ask that you not share the video with friends as this is how we make a living - consider it the same as photocopying a pattern ;)

A complete supply list will be uploaded shortly, but you will need the rulers as noted above as well as 12 - 14 x 14 squares for the tops, 12 - 14 x 14 flannel squares for the "batting" and 12 - 14 x 14 backing squares. Binding is extra and the amount required will be determined by the number of table runners you make.

A word about colour - pick what you like!  You can use one colour for all blocks or a mix of whichever colours you like. I do recommend using a low volume print (ie one that looks like solid from a distance) or solids. These choices will make it easier for you to do any marking prior to stitching (yes, we will do a little marking for some of these blocks) as well as it will make the designs easier to see once you are done stitching!

We will be creating finished blocks @ 10" each and will be joining them in groups of 3.  It is advisable that each group of three go well together - the fabric can be different, but should look pleasing to the eye as a group.  It is a great time to create seasonal table runners - pick three Christmas fabrics, three Easter, three fall and three summer as an example.

OF COURSE THERE WILL BE AWESOME PRIZES AS WELL!
